Here are some of the venture capital firms focused on sustainability, climate action and positive impact that are joining us at Web Summit Qatar.

From novel food production technologies and carbon capture innovations to EV infrastructure networks, these VCs are funding the founders who are building a better future.

Indico Capital Partners

Indico Capital Partners is an investment firm dedicated to supporting and scaling tech and sustainability startups from the Iberian Peninsula.

With an interest in areas such as Web3, SaaS, AI, IoT, fintech and cybersecurity, the VC firm typically invests between €100,000 and €10m in early-stage ventures, from pre-seed to Series A, and selectively in Series B and C.

Since the launch of an ocean-related fund in 2022, Indico has been committed to climate action, with a focus on startups and SMEs that are fostering positive impacts on marine ecosystems. The VC firm also subscribes to the United Nations-led Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) initiative.

VentureSouq

VentureSouq is a UAE-based venture capital fund manager with a global investment portfolio. The firm has a particular focus on fintech and climate tech.

Some startups the firm has invested in include Statiq, which has the largest network of EV chargers across India, Orbillon Bio, a startup producing premium lab-grown or cultivated meat (think Wagyu beef), and Pachama, a tech startup using AI for carbon capture.

Sente Ventures

Founded in 2008, Sente Ventures is a US-based investment and innovation platform focused on startups addressing industrial problems with more sustainable business models and technologies, and startups targeting the future of food and agriculture.

Founder and CEO Serhat Cicekoglu said the VC firm organises its investments around three themes: mobility/logistics, human essentials (food tech, agritech, and water tech) and industrial solutions (manufacturing, energy and infrastructure technologies).

IM Capital

IM Capital is a partner of the USAID MENA Investment Initiative in Lebanon (also attending Web Summit Qatar) and invests in a broad range of early-stage businesses and investors in the country.

Its portfolio includes ReefBot, an automatic water testing device that monitors aquariums, tanks and ponds by running tests periodically, analysing them and sending real-time updates via mobile or web app, and Taqa, an environmentally-conscious food company that produces vegan, GMO-free, palm oil-free snacks.

Rally Cap VC

Rally Cap VC is a San Francisco-based venture firm that recently launched a US$5 million climate fund with the goal of “catalysing a climate goldrush”. This VC outfit stated that it is not an impact fund, and wants to focus on climate tech startups in emerging markets.

For example, one of Rally Cap VC’s portfolio companies is Amini, a Kenya-based startup focusing on environmental data. Using a combination of AI and satellite data, this startup produces insights on land use, as well as soil and crop health.
