It’s been an historic few days at Web Summit Qatar’s inaugural event, as thousands gathered in Doha. Join us next year?

As the Middle East’s largest ever gathering of international startups, Web Summit Qatar was one to remember.

The event brought together more than 15,000 attendees from 118 countries at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Center (DECC) to make connections and enjoy talks from world-renowned speakers.

Author and presenter Trevor Noah, and the State of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, kicked things off on Opening Night.

Across the remaining three days of the event, speakers including Black Lives Matter co-founder Ayọ Tometi and Deep Space Initiative’s Sara Sabry delighted attendees. All told, nearly 400 speakers – 37 percent of whom were women – joined us to share their insights.

Elsewhere, 1,000-plus startups – roughly one third of them women-founded – exhibited at the DECC, sharing their elevator pitches with investors, companies and a global network of talent.

Just shy of 900 journalists from regional publications and global media giants reported on the future of tech and what to expect in the coming years.

At Night Summit, people gathered across three jam-packed nights of fun to experience Qatar’s heritage and cultural hotspots, including Barahat Msheireb, the beautiful Mina District, and the stunning B12 Beach Club.
